"As an architect, I find that drawing is fundamental to my creative endeavors. At the same time, while designing relies on my creativity, the underlying discipline of drawing allows me to interpret my ideas in a way I believe to be superior to computer-aided reproduction. I carry a sketchbook with me whenever and wherever I am traveling, as the act of sketching provides for me a clearer understanding of my surroundings. When sketching, I am more focused on observing the play of light on objects nearby and the manner in which the light changes their appearance. The very nature of my drawn record reinforces this image in my mind—the impact of light and shadow at a given moment.”
Now living in Lincoln, MA with his wife Susan, Peter's first volume of pen and ink drawings, entitled Impressions of Lincoln, focused on the houses, barns and public buildings in that picturesque New England town. The local residents loved it, and this inspired Peter to anthologize over 100 of his sketches of Italy, with brief descriptions of their significance. If you love Italy, you'll love his latest book.
